Hong Kong, Nov 30 2021 -- Renowned for his ‘realist sculptural techniques accompanied by surrealist imagination’, self-taught sculpture artist Johnson Tsang 曾章成 is famous for interpreting the real world with his exquisite techniques. The Hong Kong-based artist, who has over 550,000 IG followers from all over the world on his IG account #johnson_tsang_artist, launched his first official website www.johnsontsangart.com in mid November 2021. With the launch of his website, Johnson Tsang finally is now able to fulfill his followers for asking him to tailor make sculptures for their loved ones by launching his first vinyl ‘I love you this much’ which is now available to pre-order on his website.
‘I love you this much’ was an artwork Johnson made back in 2020. One of his IG followers saw his work on IG and said ‘I need this for my mom right now as I want her to know “I love you this much!”.’ Her love for her mum impressed Johnson and he quoted “I love you this much” to be the name of his artwork with the permix.
Johnson is constantly asked by his followers to work on some gift ideas and therefore he wanted more people to express their feelings towards their loved ones through this little angel. He turned the clay sculpture into a vinyl figure. The edition size is larger than he usually makes as he wanted more people to share this with their loved ones.
Apart from the pre-order of ‘I love you this much’, Johnson’s famous sculpture series including Lucid Dream Series, Lucid Dream II, Babies Series and Open Mind Series are available for viewers to admire online on his official site.
Johnson Tsang has won numerous awards for his work, including the Grand Prize in the 2012 Taiwan Ceramics Biennale, a Special Prize in the Korea Gyeonggi International Ceramix Biennale 2011 International Competition, and an Outstanding Workmanship Award in the Tea Ware by Hong Kong Potters Competition in 2007. Among other awards, he was selected as Top 100 Sculptors on Instagram. He also received The Secretary for Home Affairs’ Commendation from the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2009 for its outstanding achievements in international art events.
